Apple’s new A16 chip could be exclusive to high-end iPhone 14 Pro models

In a tweet, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo confirmed that Apple will only offer the new A16 Bionic chip on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. The standard iPhone 14 models will retain the A15 chip from the last generation of the iPhone 13.

If true, it would be the first time in nearly a decade that the company has split the specifications of a flagship phone, in terms of processor type. In 2013, Apple released the iPhone 5S with the A7 chip, while the cheaper 5C model came with the old A6 chipset.

Additionally, Kuo claims that all four iPhone 14 models will feature 6GB of RAM, with both high-end devices (Pro and Pro Max) featuring upgraded LPDDR5 memory. However, the base iPhone 14 and 14 Max will be equipped with 4x LPDDR memory.

Kuo also suggests that both the iPhone 14 Max and Pro Max versions will have a 6.7-inch screen, while the Base and Pro models come in 6.1 inches. This would also mark the first time Apple has introduced a Pro-size display in a cheaper device other than the Pro.

former Leaks It mentioned that the Pro Max model will feature an OLED display, provided by LG. The company will differentiate models, purely by specs, such as the camera and 120Hz ProMotion screen.

Although Apple has not officially announced the iPhone 14 lineup, the 3D rendering indicates that the device will resemble a mix between the iPhone 4 and iPhone 12 design, and feature flat edges with a glass finish. They’re also expected to miss the infamous camera bump through the rear glass that sits over the lenses. The front screen is also said to feature a hole for a selfie camera.
